help us beautify downtown this summer!
As of May 20, 2024, all of our downtown tree boxes have been sponsored! THANK YOU to everyone who has generously donated.
But... we can still use your help to fill our NEW alleyway flower bed with native perennials (coneflower, black eye susan, pentsemon digitalis), shrubs (hydrangeas) and flowering trees. The City of Alpena is graciously building us a flower bed in the alley between 2nd and 3rd Ave. to replace the concrete blocks. All donations made to our fund through June will help us create this beautiful urban garden.
SUGGESTED DONATIONS:
$50- sponsor a flat of native perennials or a flowering shrub
$100- contribute to the alleyway tree fund
Please contact the DDA office if you are interested in purchasing a tree in honor or memory of someone at 989-356-6422.
Donations online incur a credit card processing fee. You can also mail a check or cash to: Alpena DDA, 124 E. Chisholm St., Alpena, MI 49707.
We will place a sign honoring all donors in the garden bed once the bed is complete. We will reach out to you after you donate to confirm what you would like written on the sign (your name, business name, in honor of, in memory of, etc).

It’s always exciting when a new project to beautify the DDA district is brought to us by someone who appreciates the value in small investments that have a big impact, thanks Julie! Planting vibrant flowers in the tree bases will add visual appeal and make the DDA even more spectacular this summer season. It has been my pleasure to work with Anne Gentry, Rachel Smolinski and Julie Dietz on this project and I can’t wait to see the flowers in full bloom.”
