help us beautify downtown this summer!
Help us beautify Downtown Alpena with flowers again this year! For $50, individuals, businesses, or organizations can sponsor a flat of flowers that will be planted around the tree bases throughout downtown. This year, we are adding in native perennials around the trees to show some love to pollinators and celebrate the beautiful native flora found in our region. Flowers we are planting this year include Black Eyed Susan, Purple Coneflower, Butterfly Weed, and Wild Bergamot. We will be planting begonias mixed in for some extra color!
Any additional funds raised will go to beautify other flower gardens throughout downtown.
Each sponsor will have small sign acknowledging their generosity that will be placed near their tree. If you donate online, we will email you to confirm what to write on your sign. If you mail in a donation, please write what name to write.
Donations may be made online below or by mailing a check or cash to:

It’s always exciting when a new project to beautify the DDA district is brought to us by someone who appreciates the value in small investments that have a big impact, thanks Julie! Planting vibrant flowers in the tree bases will add visual appeal and make the DDA even more spectacular this summer season. It has been my pleasure to work with Anne Gentry, Rachel Smolinski and Julie Dietz on this project and I can’t wait to see the flowers in full bloom.”
