Bolenz Jewelry Holiday Parade & Tree-Lighting Ceremony
Friday, November 29, 2024 | 5:30- 8:30 pm
Join us for the annual Bolenz Jewelry Holiday Parade on the Friday after Thanksgiving. The starts at 5:30 pm on the corner of Chisholm St. & 9th Ave. and travels down Chisholm St. through the heart of downtown, finishing on North Second Avenue. This festive event kicks off the season with a magical display of floats, marching bands, and the arrival of Santa. When the parade finishes, come to Culligan Plaza and watch the Christmas tree be lit up in the heart of the city.

This holiday season let's support our community by choosing to shop local for all your holiday gifts. Join us for a day of shopping and holiday markets on the Saturday after Thanksgiving in Downtown Alpena! The tree in Culligan Plaza will be lit up, downtown will be decorated, and there will be plenty of holiday cheer in Northeast Michigan's most vibrant downtown.
10 am- 2 pm: Mistletoe Market in Culligan Plaza
Hosted by Classic Designs by Doreen Thomas CF, the first holiday market of the day will be filled with evergreen wreaths, swags, garlands, porch pots, and other festive vendors, including kettle corn.
10 am- 6 pm: Shop Small throughout Downtown Alpena
With over 30 shops and 200 locally owned businesses, you're sure to find something for everyone on your list. Walk through the festive city streets with a warm drink in hand and get your holiday shopping done at the small businesses that call downtown home.

5- 10 pm: Food, drinks, and apps at downtown bars & restaurants
Grab a bite & beverage at one of the following who will be open until at least 10 pm:
5 pm- 9 pm: Dessert & cocoa bar at the Sunrise Side Co-Op Market
Stop by the co-op's new location in the Alpena Marina building (400 E Chisholm St) to warm up with a dessert bar with treats made by local bakers and hot cocoa for sale! Peruse over 30 vendors' goods while you warm up.
6- 8 pm: Smores with Osborne Klein in the Pocket Park
Stop by the Pocket Park (by the fish mural) and get a smores kit to roast over an open fire, thanks to Osborne Klein! Bring the kids for this free activity.
7- 10 pm: New Year's Eve Party at PIF Cider
Live music from Conor Larkin from 7-9 pm. Come see the giant Apple Drop from the ceiling at 10 pm for all you early birds! They'll also have Traci St. Charles, Lady of the Lake Yogini, in house doing tarot card readings; come gain insight into what your new year will hold while waissailing with PIF! $20/ three card reading.
9 pm- 1 am: Mocktails & midnight noodles at Friendly Foodees
Sip specialty mocktails at Friendly Foodees. Their late-night menu will also feature a special noodle dish to ring in the new year.
9- 11:15 pm: Electronic music with Dion Stepanski in the alleyway
The alleyway party starts at 9 pm. Come check out this musical master’s set. He’ll play bass, guitar, sing, and mix some sick beats. Chill house, experimental, ambient, drum and bass. Weather location is indoors at PIF Cider (205 W Chisholm St).
11:15 pm- 1 am: Chris Chrzan DJ in the alleyway
The party continues with a DJ set from Chris Chrzan. Join us for drinks and dancing in the alleyway as we lead up to midnight.
Midnight: Sunrise Celebration
Downtown will be filled with light to celebrate new beginnings in the year ahead. Come to the alleyway/ parking lot area behind Mango's to ring in 2025. Instead of a ball drop, we'll be raising a lit sphere "sunrise" created by the City of Alpena DPW!
